Departure is Imminent!

It has been roughly a month since our last blog update, and only a matter of days until the crew of Umshini Wami – Bring Me My Machine Gun departs for Johannesburg where we will meet South African producers and fellow filmmakers Fausto Becatti and Wayne Kriel. With the clock ticking, and deadlines approaching quicker than the dark cloud of doom being cast over the continent of Europe can clear, our production artillery is starting to filter in…

With 3 Canon 5D Mark 2’s, 3 Canon 7D’s, 3 Zacuto HD eyepieces, one Kessler pocket dolly, 2 shoulder mounts, 288 Gigabytes of CF memory, 15 Terabytes of hard disk space, 18 Canon lenses and a Toyota Landcruiser later, we are finally ready to film Bring Me My Machine Gun.

The journey thus far has been… well, an experience. We have raised enough money to meet our pre-production expenses. As the excitement for the 2010 FIFA World Cup starts to build, so too is the anticipation of touching down at Oliver Tambo International Airport.

We would like to thank everyone who has helped fund the production thus far, including all our families, Samy’s Camera, Karin Stellwagen and Glynn Beard, as well as Brooks Institute Ventura Checkout, not to mention all our friends and colleagues who have driven and challenged us, enabling us to come this far.

It is with great excitement that we open our new website, FindingMadiba.com, and look forward to sharing our experiences with all of you.

Sala Kahle,
Brent Rumble – Director
