Firstly, thank you to our FINDING MADIBA viewers who have been with us during the last 6 months. Your time and thoughts are greatly appreciated. I apologize for the lengthy delay in the release of our next web episode. We have captured over 250 hours of footage and are now locked in our editing room piecing the puzzle together. We will have our next episode out shortly.

I would also like to thank everyone who shared his or her stories for FINDING MADIBA, we are forever indebted to you. Thanks to everyone who helped us make this documentary possible, from our generous sponsors who got us to South Africa, to the families and friends who accommodated us, fed us, and guided us on our voyage.

It is indisputable that South Africa hosted one of the most successful FIFA World Cups in history. Less can be said about the pitiful performances from some of the world’s football powerhouses. The momentum created from the World Cup now needs to continue and build upon itself, ensuring South Africa’s democracy thrives on a continent plagued by authoritarian government. Each country in Africa is uniquely different, South Africa even more so. With 11 national languages, which essentially define the ethnic groups, South Africa is arguably the most diverse country in the world. Rather than allowing these differences to divide communities, which was perpetuated under Apartheid, South Africa now moves towards an idea of unity to consolidate a democracy, leading the way for the rest of the continent.

We, as a film crew, feel that this ideal is well within reach. The challenge now lays in the hands of every citizen, from policy makers, civil servants, and private business, to the man on the street living from meal to meal.

Again, thank you to everyone who shared this experience with us. We look forward to hearing your thoughts on the upcoming web episodes.
